Atlantis Synchro Swim Club, has coaching opportunities for new and experienced coaches to fill part time contract for the upcoming competitive season. Laura Casey (12 & Under/ 13-15 PS & Figure Support)

 

Home Town: Halifax, NS

 Laura Casey is a returning coach to Atlantis Synchro. After spending some time abroad, she has returned home to the maraimes. She swam with Atlantis for a number of years and coached the JR FINA level before leaving. She also swam on the Master's team & held the position of Head Coach on the ASSC BOD  Laura is an Elementary school teacher, who will be working with the 12 & Under athletes this season, to give them a strong technical foundation of skills. She is very excited to be working with young athletes again this year.

Ally Merrill (Junior Fina/ ASSC Head Coach & 2019 CWG Head Coach)

Ally has had many exciting experiences with synchro. She represented PEI at the 2003 Canada Winter Games.  In 2007, Ally moved to Alberta to swim with the Calgary Aquabelles.  She spent 2 years as a member of the Senior Team, and had several podium finishes at the Canadian Open.  In 2009, Ally moved to California to swim with the world-renowned Walnut Creek Aquanuts.  She was able to represent Walnut Creek/Team USA at the 2010 Swiss Open in Switzerland, bringing home two gold medals in team, and a silver in combo.  In 2013, Ally made the transition from swimmer to coach by taking on the head coach position for the University of Prince Edward Island Synchro Team.  Ally is recently returned from Calgary where she was an apprentice coach for both the JR & 13-15 Canadian National Teams. Ally has had the opportunity to work with coaches and swimmers from all over the world, and cannot wait to share her knowledge with the newest generation of swimmers at Atlantis!

Nina is a former Atlantis swimmer and elite dancer who has decided to return to Atlantis to put her coaching skills to the test! This is her 3rd year coaching our Pre Comp. Team, and is looking forward to another positive experience.

Allison Balan (Judges Chair Synchro NS BOD, Figure Support & Sub)

This is Allison's 15th year being involved in this sport with ASSC. She has had the opportunity to venture off to summer training camps in Quebec and has also competed in the 2007 and 2011 Canada Winter Games in both duet and team events. She is a level two judge & coach and has competed in several Provincial and National competitions, placing top in the country. Allison also holds the position of Judges Chair on the Synchro NS BOD. In the past, she worked with the 13-15 NS and JR FINA athletes on figures and extra routines. This is her second year coaching with Atlantis and is looking forward to working with the 16 & Over PS girls for the third year in a row.

Faye Evans (Discover Synchro 1/ Dartmouth Rec/ Figure Support/ 13-15 NS/ Coaches Rep Synchro NS BOD/ Website Manager ASSC VC & 2019 CWG Manager/Assistant Coach)

As an athlete, Faye swam with ASSC for eight years.In her final two competitive years, she participated as Athlete Representative on the ASSC Volunteer Committee. During that time she had the opportunity to attend the 2010-2011 Canada Winter Games. Faye has competed in several Provincial and National competitions in both team and duet events. Currently, Faye occupies the position of Website Manager on the ASSC Volunteer Committee, Coaches Chair on the Synchro NS BOD, and Provincial Team Manager/Assistant coach for the 2019 Canada Winter Games Cycle. This year Faye will be working with all different levels in the club. She is very excited to help the club grow and inspire young athletes to achieve their goals and continue with the sport.
